The Borgata Poker Classic 2008: A World Poker Tour Season 6 Highlight

Played at the prestigious Borgata Hotel, Casino & Spa in the wonderful Atlantic City in New Jersey, the Borgata Poker Classic 2008 was another major highlight in the sixth season of the World Poker Tour. From January 27 to 31, 2008, some of the best poker players in the world gathered at this wondrous occasion to take part in an exciting display of poker skills, talents, and strategies. With over $5 million prizes to be won, this huge poker event promises to bring one of the classic finishes in the history of the game.

Just like all the other outstanding poker tournaments being featured by the World Poker Tour on an annual basis, the Borgata Poker Classic once again delivered another great show for the whole world to see. Right from the very start, the action was intense all the way through the end. Showing no signs of yielding in, every participant showed that they truly deserve to be in this one-of-a-kind showcase of poker's top contenders.

As the Borgata Poker Classic tournament went on, only six of the hundreds of poker players were able to make it into the final table. Despite their being well prepared for the competition, the road to the finals was definitely not that easy. Although the tournament was well attended by both legendary players and up-and-coming superstars, the younger participants dominated this poker event. David Tran, Ervin Prifti, and Noah Schwartz were among those who finished at the top after the elimination round. Gavin Griffin, Lee Watkinson, and Thomas Hare were among those who showed excellent control in the different games that they played.

While these six young and outstanding poker players completed the participants for the final table, a brilliant showdown of newer plays and unique tactics as well as strategies is being cooked for the Borgata Poker Classic 2008 tournament. The early rounds were marked by uncertainty, with each of the remaining participants would not bulge in to the pressure provided by the opposing players. As the action continued, Prifti was booted out first from the competition after committing some crucial errors and miscalculations. Soon enough, Watkinson followed after his inferior hands succumbed to the other remaining players.

With Prifti and Watkinson out of the competition early on, the Borgata Poker Classic title was up for grabs for Hare, Griffin, Tran, and Schwartz. As the tension builds up and the action continues to intensify, Schwartz would soon find his way out of the tournament. After a few more rounds of super exciting and highly unpredictable poker action, Hare was also eliminated from the title run, leaving Griffin and Tran for the final showdown. In the end, Griffin's superior poker hands and better use of strategies proved too much for Tran, allowing him to have complete control over the closing parts of the game and take home a huge $1,401,109 payoff.
